The Legend of the Crying Stone
In the past, on a hill far from the country, there lived a poor widow and her only daughter. Her daughter was really beautiful, yet lazy. She did not want to help her mother at all and was very spoiled.
Complication
One day, that woman and her daughter went to the market. The daughter wore her best clothes and walked in front of her mother because she felt ashamed. Many people admired her beauty. When asked about the old woman behind her, she denied that it was her mother and claimed the woman was just her maid. Her mother stayed silent, but her heart was deeply hurt. Suddenly, the mother stopped, cried, and prayed for God to punish her disobedient daughter. The sky darkened, lightning struck, and rain poured heavily. The daughter panicked as her legs began to turn into stone and the transformation spread across her body.
Resolution
It was too late for regrets. The girl’s entire body turned into stone, yet tears continued to fall from her eyes. That was why people called the statue the Crying Stone.
